Mali has beaten Guinea to secure a spot in the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
During the third and fourth place match of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Morocco, the Malians managed to get a 4-3 on penalties win against Guinea.
No goal was recorded at the end of 90+5 minutes of play.
Guinea had the advantage after Mali missed its first penalty.
Sadly for the Guineans, their joy was cut short when the Malians fought back.
Guinea squandered two of its penalties; one hit the goal post while the other one was saved by Mali’s goalkeeper, Lassine Diarra.
Mali took the opportunity to score their last penalty kick to get a victory.
Their win has earned them a spot in the Paris Olympic Games 2024—while Guinea will have the chance to feature in a play-off match with an Asian country.
