Former Aston Villa winger Gabriel Agbonlahor has raised concerns about Arsenal’s midfielder, Thomas Partey’s recurring injury problems, which he believes would become a liability to the club.

Although praising the 30-year-old Ghanaian international for being a top-notch player, Agbonlahor believes his fitness presents pertinent concerns that may become injurious to Arsenal who are bent on claiming the Premier League title this season after narrowly missing out on the previous one.

Partey left Atletico Madrid to join Arsenal in 2020 following a 50-million-euro deal. Over the course of three seasons, he has made 103 appearances, notched five goals, and assisted in three.

He was missing in Arsenal’s last three games due to injuries and his return in the near future hangs in the balance.

Agbonlahor has advised the club to start looking for a long-term replacement, citing concerns about the midfielder’s proneness to injuries which he believes would not improve as he grows older.

“I would let Partey go. In some games, he’s poor, in others, he’s very good, and in some, he is injured. When you sit down and assess it, is he delivering more than 50% of a season of his best football?

If I were Arsenal, I’d consider selling him if the right offer comes along. I believe they were exploring this option during the summer. It’s essential to consider a long-term replacement because, as much as he’s a talented player, the injury concerns may worsen as he gets older,” He said.
