Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei has reacted to the decision of the government to impose additional tax after the ‘free water and electricity’ package.
President Akufo-Addo announced this package for the vulnerable following the outbreak of Coronavirus.
In a recent discussion with Joy FM’s Evans Mensah, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed the country spent about GHS 19 billion on COVID-19 related issues.
In this vein, he said citizens have to pay 1% extra tax to settle the 19 billion cedis cost.
Reacting to this in a post sighted by Newshuntermag.com, Prince David Osei said the development makes those who campaigned for Nana Akufo-Addo look mindless.
He wrote on Facebook: “If we campaigned for #4More4Nana to do more on the premise of free water&electricity during the pandemic and we turn around to tax the people, then it makes some of us who championed the course look mindless!”
It appears he has regretted campaigning for the NPP leader looking at his post.
He was one of the public figures in Ghana who vigorously campaigned for Nana Akufo-Addo prior to the 2020 general elections in the country.
