The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suncity Radio in Sunyani, Ransford Antwi, has applauded the exemplary gesture of Togbe Afede XIV and thereby called on Ghanaians to see the need to emulate him.

Togbe Afede XIV, who was the former President of the National House of Chiefs rejected an amount of GHC365,392.67 paid into his account as ex-gratia for being a former Council of State member from 2017 to 2020.

The Chief, in a statement, said he was receiving a monthly salary during the time he served on the Council, and felt it was inappropriate to receive extra payment for such a brief time of service to the state.

Mr Antwi, giving his opinion said, “I’m sure there are many who can genuinely give back to our society, when they can, but, let’s encourage more to emulate Togbe Afede’s awesome gesture and help build a better Ghana for ourselves.”

Mr Antwi served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Twene Amanfo Secondary Technical School (TASTECH), his Alma Mater in Sunyani for more than 10 years and subsequently became the Board Chairman who is also rejecting his sitting allowances since assumed to serve on the Board.

“I wish to also add that since becoming a member of the Board of Governors of my Alma Mater, TASTECH, for over 10 years, and subsequently becoming its Chairman, I have been voluntarily donating all my sitting allowances to the Old Students Association of the school.

“Although my finances aren’t great and that amount isn’t anything substantial but giving it back to the school can support its development,” he stated.
