Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has passionately pleaded with teachers to call off their strike.

About four teacher unions have been on strike for the past week.

They took this decision because of their deteriorating conditions with stagnant salaries.

Looking at the current economic situation in the country, these teachers are demanding payment of a cost of living allowance to support their expenses.

Speaking at the 2022 Eid Al Adha celebration at the Independence Square, President Akufo-Addo begged the teachers to reconsider their decision because of the students who will write their pending BECE exams.

The President further appealed to citizens to bear with the government during these difficult times, following covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.
