Ghanaian highlife artiste, Naa Agyeman, has implored young artistes to visit the old ones.

He made this call when speaking in an interview with Kwame Ghana on Radio BAR in Sunyani.

The ‘Alomo Ketewa’ singer was worried over the type of songs being churned out by the new crop of artistes in Ghana.

He thinks they can learn a lot from the old musicians if they visit them.

“…Of course music is dynamic but the bases of highlife should be felt in our songs irrespective of the genre. There is no dynamism in our new songs, nowadays musicians are shy to speak and use our local languages, our music nowadays lacks originality and so people get fed up quickly and so the songs die off in no time,” Naa Agyeman stated.

When asked if he was happy about the recognition the Grammy awards has given to Ghanaian music, he quickly answered that yes and that will bring much attention to the highlife genre.

He further pleaded with Ghanaians to be proud of their own because they have a beautiful tradition and culture.
