At least 200 children being trafficked into slavery, have been rescued
by the anti-human trafficking unit of the Ghana Police Service, in
collaboration with NGO, Challenging Heights.

The minors were being taken to faraway places like Yeji in the Brong
Ahafo Region’s Pru District and Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper Region,
which shares borders with Burkina Faso.

They were all ferried from Ada in the Greater Accra Region.

The Police, led by Director of the anti-trafficking unit,
Superintendent Patience Quaye, intercepted at least six bus-loads of the
children at Bunso Junction near Linda Dor in the Eastern Region, as
they were being taken to their final destinations.

They are currently in Police custody and will be taken back to their
parents. The Police are also investigating the traffickers for
prosecution.
