Politicians Owning Media Outlets In Ghana Is Creating More Polarization – Media Practitioner Avers

A Ghanaian media practitioner, Atta Akoto Senior, has expressed worry about the rate at which politicians are acquiring media outlets in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku on Unlimited Chat With K.O.K aired on Top City TV, the affable media personality outlined the dangers associated with politicians owning media outlets.

He stated that the high rate at which Ghanaian politicians are acquiring television, radio and other print media platforms would create more polarization in the media space.

If care is not taken, Mr Akoto said the media would be irrelevant.


He explained that these media outlets will be so predictable and what they would broadcast won’t surprise their audience.

Mr Atta Akoto Senior espouse there should be dynamism if the media wants to be relevant.

With the advent of social media, the well-versed media practitioner and renowned marketer stressed that traditional media stations have to be creative in order to be relevant.

Mr Akoto Senior, who is now the manager of Fox FM in Kumasi, also divulged the need for media outlets to build a strong community and work towards a common goal that impacts society positively.
