Music legend, Tina Turner, has passed on.
She died at the age of 83.
The American-born and naturalized Swiss singer, dancer, actress and author died on Wednesday, 24 May 2023, at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, after a long illness.
Tina’s demise was announced in a statement Newshuntermag.com saw on her verified Instagram account.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.
Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly,” the statement said.
She was born Anna Mae Bullock but her name was changed by Ike Turner, her former husband after Tina’s recording of “A Fool in Love” became an instant hit.
Also known widely as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, she rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer.
