Ghanaian artiste, Ebenezer Kwesi Okyere Asumaning, known as King Pharaoh of Akatakyie music group fame, has regretted not sticking to his old style.

During an interview with Kwame Ghana on Radio BAR in Sunyani, King Pharaoh said he should have maintained his old comic rap style.

This was the style he did on their ‘Odo Asisi Me’ song released in 1999—off the ‘Ghana Mmaa’ album.

“Odo Asisi Me was big at the time and it was my rap that made the trick for the song, most presenters who had the chance to listen to the song first at the recording studio said my rap was wack and should be removed and get either Obrafour, Lord Kenya or any of the big rappers then, to be on the song but one Kwame Baah who was a presenter at Luv Fm in Kumasi insisted my rap should be maintained and not be removed for that will sell the Odo Asisi Me song. So it was kept on and lo and behold it made the magic,” he recalled.

After the trolling and laughing at the rap skills, he worked harder to improve his rap style and did a better one on Odo Asikyirie but unfortunately, none of his improved rap dexterity was popular than the one he did on the Odo Asisi song.

“To date, I regret not sticking to the Odo Asisi Me rap,” Pharaoh lamented.

King Pharaoh of Akatakyie revealed that they are working on an album which has one of the best rappers in Ghana currently, Strongman, on it.

He advised musicians to work harder, resort to God only and not believe in juju which might not end up well with them, indicating that Akatakyie never consulted any juju but made great songs.

King Pharaoh was thankful to Ghanaians for holding Akatakyie down till now and promised to come back with another great song soon.
