Sensational Afro singer, songwriter, and producer, Burna Boy has clinched yet another trophy at the 16th Headies Awards ceremony held on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
The acclaimed superstar‘s celebrated hit song “Last Last”, which came out in 2022 and swiftly garnered global fame secured the “Song of the Year” title, beating other international hits such as Kizz Daniel’s “Buga” and Rema’s “Calm Down”.
“Last Last” cleared the “Afrobeats Single of the Year” title as well.
The “Best R&B Single” honor also went to Burna Boy’s “For My Hand”.
The Headies Awards has become one of the most esteemed award ceremonies, celebrating Nigerian music, artists, and industry achievements since its genesis in 2006.
This year’s edition was held in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States and brought together big names in Afro music whose hit songs have transcended the continent’s borders.
Other musicians who joined the roster of winners included Rema who won the “Best Male Artiste”, “African Artiste of the Year”, and “Digital Artiste of the Year” categories.
“Best Female Artiste” also went to Ayra Starr and “Best Collaboration” to Spyro and Tiwa Savage with their, “Who Is Your Guy” remix.
Asake’s album, “Mr Money with the vibe” also took home the “Album of the Year” award.
