Renowned Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur, Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, known better by his stage name, D-Black has provided insights into an impressive array of 11 business operations he runs in the country.
According to the rapper, he took up advertising and marketing before venturing into music, which gave him the financial backing to start Black Avenue Music, a record label involving Joey B and DJ Breezy which came out of his company, Black Avenue Works.
In an interview with JoyPrime, the “Vera” hitmaker revealed that after a music break in 2016, he bounced back to the business world with his third company, Live Wire Events. The venture organizes social and corporate programs including boxing fights which have featured Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers. It also hosts Celebrity Soccer and has produced some festival jams in Ghana.
He further pointed out other notable businesses including nightlife hotspots and food ventures.
“I started doing branding, that’s Volcano, then I built Club Onyx, that’s number five. Then Oasis Lounge, that’s number six. Number seven is the Casablanca Lounge, then Frosty Moon which is an ice cream franchise business that’s where we eat. And then Twelve Saints is a merchandise store in West Legon, that’s nine. I set up Ramazan and then a food delivery business called ‘Just Order’. So that’s 11,” the rapper related.
