The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a crushing 4-0 beating as they faced the United States of America (USA) in the international friendly on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
They had already endured a painful 2-0 rout at the hands of Mexico only three days before.
The national team’s performance in the first half was far from impressive as the pitch was from the onset dominated by the USA with Giovanni Reyna netting the first goal only 10 minutes into the game.
AC Milan Winger Christian Pusilic also found the back of the net in the 19th minute, and his efforts were complemented by a third goal from Folarin Balogun three minutes later.
Things further went south when Giovanni Reyna found the back of the net again from an indirect freekick in the 39th minute, sealing the fate of the Black Stars before the first half ended.
Coach Hughton made a series of substitutions in the second half to bolster the team, however, the damage had already been caused and the scoreline remained unchanged.
The game concluded with a resounding victory for the USA.
The Black Stars will begin their 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month, starting with a match against Madagascar.
