Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla on Tuesday night took place without the Gunners’ midfielder Thomas Partey due to another injury.
Although the severity is unknown, the team’s manager Mikel Arteta said Partey suffered a muscle injury during training on Monday just before Arsenal’s 2-1 victory at the Ramon Sanches-Pizjuan Stadium.
Arteta also noted that his absence was a big miss for the team.
“Thomas [Partey] picked up an injury yesterday in training. Unfortunately, it’s a muscle injury. We don’t know the extent of it. A big miss for us,” he said, leading up to the game.
It remains uncertain if the 30-year-old midfielder will be up on his feet to feature in this Saturday’s showdown against Sheffield United.
A groin injury had earlier kept him away for 30 days, missing six games, until he made a 16-minute appearance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City. He also sat unused as a substitute during the team’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
Partey however played in both friendly games of the Black Stars against the USA and Mexico.
