Rex Omar, the chairman of Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), has apologized after posting the lists of songs that Afua Asantewaa Aduonum will perform at her singathon.
Afua Asantewaa, a Ghanaian woman, is aiming to break Guinness World Records’ longest singing marathon by an individual.
After she announced her intentions, she was asked to submit the list of songs she would be performing during an interview Rex granted to GTV.
Following this, Afua’s team obliged and submitted the list to the GHAMRO chairman.
Unfortunately, Rex posted it on Facebook, an action that has been condemned.
Afua Asantewaa reacted to the post, stating that it was not acceptable for Mr Omar to leak a confidential list.
Rex Omar was heavily chastised and he later deleted the post.
In a video Newshuntermag.com saw on Facebook, Rex apologized.
“They had brought the list and because of the controversy, I don’t know anything about the project as to whether the list of songs should be confidential.
“I didn’t know. It was not on the letter with the list that they brought us and the person who brought it did not say any such thing. So for people to be clear that the thing that we wanted them to do has been done, I posted the first page. Before they called me to say that it should have been confidential.
“So because it’s their project, I have deleted it and I’m apologizing not because I’ve done anything wrong. But because as an institution and as the present leader of the institution, I want people to know that my intentions are clear,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum wants to break the record from December 24 to 27 in Accra by singing between 117 and 120 hours.
Presently, Sunil Waghmare from India, holds the record after she sang 105 hours in 2012.
