2014 World Cup: Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah sees tough group as well balanced

Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah is
confident the Black Stars can be
competitive at next month's World Cup
despite being placed in the Group of Death.
The Black Stars have been drawn in a tough
looking Group G alongside Germany, Portugal
and United States, but Appiah insists Ghana
won't fear their illustrious opponents.
"We play Germany, USA and Portugal in our
group, but we did get this far and we can't
underrate or overrate any team, the game has
come of age and it's any man's game," he said,
as reported FIFA.com .
"All teams in our group are strong, but we
can't fear them because our qualification
demonstrates our ability and potential.
"If you have qualified for the World Cup and
you fear your opponents, then you might as
well not go for the competition."
Ghana open their World Cup campaign against
United States on 16 June at the Arena das Dunas.
They then face Germany four days later in
Fortaleza's Castelão, before finishing the group
on 26 June with Portugal at the Estádio
Nacional de Brasília Mané Garrincha.
