LIE ON THE FLOOR: RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION OR GO HOME AND DIE…DR. ABEBRESE

The Medical Director of the Sunyani Regional Hospital, Dr. Jacob

Abebrese has counseled patients and the general public to lie

recumbent to receive medical care instead of staying in their homes

with ailments that could be fatal.

He explained that every regional hospital has got it own capacity and

the architecture of the facility originally was to hold 300 bed

capacity.

He furthered that a significant as 50 beds, has been added which does

not augur well for the hospital as compared to other regional

hospitals in the country.

The Gate Keeper System of the Health Insurance Rule, he asserted,

outlines that the regional hospital should be consulted after a

series of visited health centres. He said though these are the

outlined rules, "we cant sack patients when thy come to receive

medical care."

He made these assertions when he was reacting to information received

by the media that some sick persons of the hospital are receiving

treatment lying recumbent on the floor.

"We are overwhelmed by the number of sick persons trooping in", he

revealed his astonishment and entreated the public to bear with the

hospital.
