Mahama re-assigns Elvis, Yamin

President John Dramani Mahama has re-assigned the Minister for Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and his Deputy Joseph Yammin.

This comes a few days after the Black Stars were eliminated from the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana’s participation in this year’s World Cup was marked by controversies culminating in the suspension of Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince-Boateng.

A statement from the Presidency gave no reason for the re-assignment of the two, but said Information Minister; Mahama Ayariga is expected to take over as the new Sports Minister.

Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Vincent Oppong Asamoah replaces Joseph Yammin.

The statement said the President as part of new changes in his administration has also re-assigned Fiifi Kwetey, a Minister of State at the Presidency as Minister for Food and Agriculture.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah moves to the Presidency as a Minister of State while his deputy, Joseph Yammin moves to the Ashanti Region to take over from Joseph Alexander Ackon who has been re-assigned to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
