Five ways to fight depression

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

New Delhi: Depression is a state of low mood which affects a person’s thoughts, behaviour, feelings and sense of well being.

Nothing in the world can make you feel better, when you are depressed.

Symptoms like lack of energy and low and dwindling self esteem make it hard to get out of a depressed state.

Here are few ways to fight depression:

Meditation:

Meditation is a very good way to fight
depression, as it keeps our mind calm and composed. It promotes mental
freedom by separating the very attachment of thoughts that doesn’t serve
our well-being.

Writing down emotion on paper

Writing down helps to improve emotional
health by letting you uncover and remove the unhealthy messages you’ve
been carrying. It gives you a clear path to reconnect with your true
self.

By putting words to your anger,
frustration, or sadness can help you process the emotions rather than
holding them inside. Writing boosts mood and promotes emotional health.

Be Active

It’s a physiological fact that activity fights depression.

When we are depressed our energy levels drops or we feel down.

Exercising increases the
neuro-plasticity of your brain and releases neurochemicals called
endorphins, which help to elevate your mood.

Watch a Funny TV Show or Movie

Watching a funny TV show or movie can
simply fight depression, as it will make you laugh or smile and can
convince your brain that you’re happy.

Don’t think of this exercise as merely a
distraction, but as an effective tool in reminding your brain that you
can feel good again.

Don’t Isolate Yourself

When depressed, don’t isolate yourself ,
as you may hear thoughts telling you to be alone, keep quiet and not to
bother people with your problems.
Talking about your problems or worries to your friends and family, will help you fight against depression.
