Tano
South District Assembly held it’s second ordinary meeting of the fourth
session on wednesday 17th september, 2014 at Bechem, the district
capital.
Tano South District is one of the 27 Districts in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

Hon.
Anthony Opoku, Presiding Member of the assembly in his welcome remarks
showed appreciation to Hon. Members of the House for their present at
the meeting.
According to him, Land disputes, Lack of Accommodation,
Water and Sanitation issues, and high increment of reported armed
robbery cases on the Derma/Asuaso road, due to the bad state of the road
is a huge challenge to the assembly.
He therefore called on the
District Security Executive Committee (DISEC), to help find a lasting
solution and help protect life and properties at the vicinity.

Hon.
Bukari Zakari Anaba, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Tano South
called on Hon. Members to take the work of the Sub-Committees seriously.
He said the work of the House requires collaboration in the discharge
of collective responsibility to the people they represent. “The essence
of decentralization demands that we interact with the people and bring
their views to bear in the deliberations of the house. Let us engage in
these discussions dispassionately in the best of fate to arrive at
workable solutions in the interest of the district”.

Hon. Bukari
Zakari Anaba hinted that the 2014 Regional Farmers Day Celebration will
be held at Derma in the District on 5th December 2014, under the theme
“Grow What You Eat”.

Tachimantia-hene Nana Odefour Ampong Kromantan II who was present at the
meeting said there is high rate of teenage pregnancies and gambling by
school children in the community. He appealed to the DCE and District
Commander of Police to institute one common bye-law to help bring this
children who are now addicted to gambling under control.
