Sunyani Municipal has organize a clean up exercise just after two days
of the celebration of National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC
2014) in the region.
The exercise which was totally dominated by personnel from the Ghana
National Fire Service, also saw the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.
Kwasi Oppong Ababio assisting things around.
Most of the people who participated in the exercise said the
initiation of National Sanitation Day is a step in the right direction
to prevent diseases.
Public Relations Officer of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Mr. Antwi
Adjei Vincent told the News Hunter Magazine that, the exercise follows
a directive from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural
Development to Municipal, Metropolitan and District assemblies to
embark on clean up exercises on every first Saturday of every month to
improve sanitation as well as the health of the people.
He said the clean up exercise was postponed to Saturday 13th of
December due to the NAFAC celebration which was held in the
municipality last week.
Some of the areas cleaned were the Sunyani main lorry station, central
business district and the Sunyani main street.
