Police in the Ashanti Region has apprehended the man at the centre of
the Begoro sex scandal that rocked the Fanteakwa District capital a few
months ago.
Yaw Offei, 50, a photographer by profession, is the main character in sexually explicit films that took social media by storm.
Women between the ages of eighteen (18) and forty (40) years in their
quest to have their photographs taken by him are now victims of his
sexual escapades
Yaw Offei, who is also a choir leader at the Begoro branch of the SDA
church, fled when his escapades were leaked and had since been in hiding
until his arrest yesterday.
Confirming the arrest on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, the Manhyia
Divisional Police Commander, ACP George Tweneboah said Yaw Offei was
grabbed in the afternoon of March 30, 2015 at a railway station in
Kumasi following a tip-off from some residents.
He had gone to print pictures when the operators recognised him and asked neighbours to alert the police.
ACP Tweneboah said the suspect while admitting that he was the man in
the videos, insisted he recorded them with the consent of the women,
with whom he had a relationship.
The Begoro police have been notified and steps are being taken to
transfer Yaw Ofei to Begoro to help with investigations, ACP Tweneboah
added.
