Bench warrant for 23 employers in Ashanti Region

Four courts in the Ashanti Region have issued bench warrants for the
arrest of 23 employers who have defaulted in the payment of the Social
Security contributions of their workers.

The Ash Town Special Court, Konongo District Magistrate Court, Obuasi
Circuit Court and Sefwi Wiawso District Magistrate Court issued the
warrants at separate dates during February and March this year after the
suspects failed to appear before the courts.

The defaulters are the heads of 14 educational institutions, including two reverend ministers; a hotel and eight companies.

Ash Town Court

The Presiding Magistrate of the Ash Town Special Court, Mr Samuel
Kotey, ordered the arrest of the Proprietor of the All Saints
Preparatory School in Kumasi, Daniel Yeboah, Proprietress of the Andy
Grace Academy, Kumasi, Grace Owusu Ansah; Director, Stephen Gyan Herbal,
Kumasi; Stephen Gyan, Proprietor, Great Hope International School,
Kumasi; Mawusi Emmanuel and Amoah Richard, Proprietors of the Christus
Academy, Kumasi.

The rest are Regina Boampong, Proprietress of Texas Academy, Ahwiaa
Overseas; Nana Ama Asor, Managing Director of Great Asor Hotel, Asokwa,
Kumasi; John Adams, Proprietor, Hefatha International School; Dote Sepe,
Kumasi; Kwaku Oteng, Managing Director of Angel Broadcasting Company,
Kumasi; and Juliet Anang, accountant of Engel Educational Complex,
Kumasi.

Konongo Court

Four other suspects are expected to appear before Ms Priscilla Yeboah
at the Konongo District Magistrate Court. They are Kwame Badu,
Proprietor of Jesus is King International School, Kubease, Tairu
Mohammed of Tairu Wood Processing, Konongo; Reverend Emmanuel A. Mensah,
Nana Atobre International School, Bonwire and Isaac Asante Hayford of
Ejisu Stool Lands.

Obuasi Court

The Obuasi Circuit Court also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of
Reverend Francis Addai of the Born Again Day Care, Obuasi; Bawa
Lawrence, Count Your Blessings Academy; David Nyarko, King Henry
Educational Academy and Stephen Opoku Agyeman of the St Peter’s Academy.

The remaining six are to appear before the Sefwi Wiawso District Magistrate Court.

They are Frank Kudwo, Frank Kudwo Enterprise, Essan Debiso; Samuel
Andoh, District Co-ordinating Director, Bia District Assembly, Essam
Debiso; Paul Yeboah, St Louis Preparatory School, Akontombra, Obeng
Manu, Water and Sanitation Development Board, Essam Debiso; Amadu
Asumah, Prestige Enterprise, Oseikojokrom and Samuel Saforo Kwayisi,
Kwayisi Enterprise, Awaso.
