Ghanaian gospel singer Herty Borngreat has pleaded with her fans the
world over, especially Christians, to make a concerted effort to show
some love to a needy child during this Easter season.
“We are likely to get carried away by the daily challenges of our
individual lives and the current economic situation to an extent we
would forget that no matter how hungry we are, there is a child next
door hungrier than us. The greatest way we can celebrate this Easter
season is to show some love and provide some succour, no matter how
small, to a needy child just to put a smile on the child’s face.
“This sacrifice of help to humanity is the true essence of the season
and should be considered more important than merrymaking or the several
entertainment activities all around us,” Herty Borngreat told NEWS-ONE
in an interview.
The gospel singer explained further that Christians celebrate Easter to
remember the sacrifice Jesus Christ made and His resurrection and that
it would be unfortunate if the celebrants of Easter would not make a
little sacrifice to help others.
The gospel musician explained the specific category of children in need she was campaigning for help for:
“We do not have to look far before we find a needy child we can be of
help to. There are families with children who do not have cloths to
wear, food to eat or even shoes for their feet. Sometimes you meet a
young teen who cannot afford to buy a simple deodorant or excuse me to
say menstrual pad.
“There are thousands of brilliant children who may be going wayward
mainly because they have no one to advice them and mentor their lives or
show them the slightest form of love and care.”
She continued: “we drive through town with your children in your car
and find other kids their age selling under the scorching sun and
risking their lives to chase after moving cars. There are too many of
such needy children who are suffering more than those in the orphanages
and I am sure that our individual and collective help to them would put a
meaningful smile on their faces to at least make life a little easier
for them. That temporal happiness they would feel because of your help
would forever be appreciated by them.”
Herty said “we have to give not because we have in abundance but
because we know how it feels to be in need. Sometimes we do not know the
extent of relief and happiness our little help cause in the life of our
beneficiaries.”
“It is my prayer that we all have a very happy Easter season and come
out with renewed energies for life. We can only hope and pray God
protects us from the usual road carnage that increases around festive
seasons and it is my prayer that Jehovah God gives each of us success
according to our definition of success”, the gospel singer concluded.
