Afro gypsy musician Wanlov The Kubolor has suggested the need for
Ghanaian celebrities to stage another demonstration against
government’s handling of the power crisis but says the next one ought
to be staged at the Flagstaff House in Accra, Ghana’s official seat of
government.
He said there should be further demonstrations to exert more pressure
on the John Mahama-led government to fix the ongoing power crisis.
Last week Saturday, Wanlov joined some of the country’s famous
celebrities and the public at a big vigil held to remind government of
the extent to which the crisis is affecting the country.
The event was led by popular actress Yvonne Nelson and other
celebrities such as Van Vicker, DKB, Prince David Osei, E.L, D Black,
Efya and a host of others.
It started as a procession from the bridge at the University of Ghana
and ended at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, with participants
carrying lanterns, torch lights, and candles among other, to
symbolisedumsor in their homes.
Wanlov said that he attended the vigil because he was also affected by
the dumsor.
According to him, should government refuse to fix the power crisis,
the seat of government would be the next venue for a #DumsorMustStop
vigil.
“If the dumsor doesn’t stop, I thinkthe next vigil will be held at the
Flagstaff House,” he told Multi TV.
Wanlov is one of the Ghanaian musicians who have been vocal on the
worsened power crisis. He now walks in town with an ECG brandedhelmet
to show his frustration.
