Michael Akuffo was all Kotoko needed to progress to the finals of the
2015 MTN FA Cup competition.
The Porcupine Warriors booked a place at the finals after defeating
Aduana Stars 3-1 at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Friday afternoon.
Full-back Christopher Bonney opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 31st
minute with a thunderous volley from 35-yards to beat goalkeeper
Stephen Adams in post for Aduana Stars.
The Champions who had dominatedthe entire 45 minutes of the game
managed to get their second goal inthe 64th minute when Christopher
Bonney converted a penalty kick to get his second goal of the day
after striker Obed Owusu had been brought down in the 18-yard box
byAduana Stars defender Abdul Ganiyu.
Aduana Stars were awarded a penalty after a ball struck the handsof
Kotoko defender Akwasi Acheampong in the 18-yard box.
Defender Godfred Saka made no mistake as he expertly converted to give
his side a lifeline.
Controversy set in as goalkeeper Stephen Adams was shown a yellowcard
having deliberately pulled down Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed on the
edge of the box.
Midfielder Michael Akuffo took the opportunity as he struck to beat
Stephen Adams who failed to get his full hands on the ball to increase
the tally for the defendingChampions.
The result thus see Kotoko advanceto their fourth consecutive MTN FA
Cup finals as they awaits the winnerbetween Accra Hearts of Oak and
Medeama SC.
