The interview that caught a lot of People’s attention in the capital on Friday 8th of April on Radio xyz 93.1 was with NANA QUAME on MY STORY on LET’S GO with Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

Born HENRY DE-MENSAH, NANA QUAME whose career started at a very tender age through talent shows and has a repertoire of hits to his credit with his career spanning barely two decades touched on an array of issues ranging from family, personal regrets, politics, the Ghanaian music industry, the award organisers of our industry and the shocking pronouncement of the music prodigy charging Fellow musicians to pay ‘payola’ if that’s what will promote their music.

“I’m telling my fellow musicians, listen if you have the money to pay. Some of my fellow musicians will insult me for saying this but at the end of the day if you have the money to pay , I’m begging you my brothers to pay, If that will promote your music on radio. For those who don’t have money, you have to find whatever way out”.

He went on to reveal how most musicians according to his personal research are been backed by some so called ‘sakawa boys’ just to push their music financially.

“When you watch now, those artists trending I mean really really trending one way or the other we have to face fact has a ‘sakawa boy’ backing them. I don’t wanna mention names but I want you to do your research. There are guys who are backing them financially, that’s my point. In my days we had the despite music group and Co supporting us financially but they have all stopped, so the financial support is now coming from these ‘sakawa boys’ and huge super stars are been backed by them. It’s not bad money or anything voodoo, it’s only clever money.

The Atia donko hit maker was quick to add jokingly that; “It’s strictly business and an investment”.

NANA QUAME promises a come back to the music industry vibrantly because that is his primary focus now.
His new song ” ME DO” is currently enjoining air play.
