2016 MTN Hitmaker Winner, Kurl Songx has revealed the impact
that the reality show has had on his career.

Speaking in an interview with Melvina Frimpong Manso on
Suncity 97.1 FM’s Morning Drive, the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ singer said he does not
struggle to write songs due to the training he had during his days at the MTN
hitmaker reality show.
“MTN hitmaker is the best music reality show in Ghana.
Because it is not easy, every week you need to write a song. You have to make
sure whatever you have written sounds good in the ears of people…and even with
people who are technically inclined about what you are doing. That has helped
me a lot…I don’t struggle to write music. I can record every blessed day,” he
disclosed.
Kurl Songx stated that the environment and where he finds
himself at a particular moment—and being moved by the beat inspires him to do
his work.
Known for his great vocal delivery, Kurl further stated that
he feels very comfortable working with any musician. “I am just okay and good to
go…the fact that it is music,” said Kurl Songx.
He also eulogized Kaywa for making him who he is today.
“Kaywa has made me who I am today. I will take this
opportunity to thank him. Working with him sometimes is difficult because he is
a perfectionist. He wants the right thing to be done. If you can work with
Kaywa, then you can work with anybody at all. He is somebody you cannot
impress. He always pushes you to do extra,” he noted.
Kurl Songx revealed that performing with Pat Thomas and Kojo
Antwi on one stage at a concert in Sunyani was beyond his understanding.
“I feel very honored because it is not easy…it doesn’t come
like a bread and butter or something for someone like Kojo Antwi to say that I
am good. He is someone that I have been looking up to when I us growing up. It
means that God has a lot for me and I just have to keep it on the low…and see
what God will do with my life,” he averred.

Kurl Songx said he will be concentrating on solo
projects—while he expects more monsters hits this year.
