Do Not Rely On Only Music – Okyeame Kwame Advises Ghanaian Musicians

The ‘Small Small’ singer said musicians in Ghana need to
cast their nets wide and utilize other opportunities.

“You cannot rely on music only in Ghana. You have to do
other things aside from music. Our market is not vast so you have to write
books or engage in other business. Do investments because good things won’t
come your way forever,” he told Melvina Frimpong Manso on Suncity Radio’s
Showbiz 971 in Sunyani.

 Okyeame Kwame charged
musicians to see themselves as developmental ambassadors.

“We need to use music to foster development. It is not every
time that we have to do profane songs. As role models, we have to think about
developmental things. We need to go beyond living flashy lifestyles,” he
stressed.

The Rap Doctor indicated that music is his first love and he
cannot stop doing it.

He revealed how he shot down advice from people which he
deems not morally right.

“Sometimes people advise me to do controversial stuff in
order to trend. But I always want to do something which is developmental and
morally right. I will always do what will make my creator feel ok,” he
stated.   

Okyeame Kwame posited that honour from the MTN Foundation
and praises from individuals motivate him to work harder.
