Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo, has subtly replied to Counselor Lutterodts call on him marry more than one wife.
In a recent interview with Zion Felix on the ‘Uncut Show’, the controversial counsellor urged Sarkodie and John Dumelo to marry more than one wife since they are well endowed.
But in an interview Citi FM, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said he doesn’t believe in polygamy.
However, he wants it to be legalized in the country.
“I feel that there’s nothing wrong with it. I mean if our brothers and sisters who are Muslims are doing it perfectly, why not Christians? Provided you can take care of your family and your two or three wives that’s fine and I mean, I speak to a lot of Muslim friends of mine and they’re okay with it, personally, I don’t believe in it but I feel it’s good for Ghana.
“The reversal is also perfect, do it both ways, do it for women also but naturally, men are like that and women aren’t so you will find fewer women doing that but I think should be legalized,” he stated.
Polygamous marriages (marriages under ordinance) are illegal under civil law in Ghana. But there is no law which prohibits someone from it if the first marriage was under customary law.
