Outspoken Ghanaian politician, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has finally explained why he was quiet during the fracas in Ghana’s Parliament.

The election of the Speaker of the 8th Parliament on Thursday, January 7, 2021, was not done peacefully.

Amid the misunderstandings, the Assin Central MP was seen sitting quietly.

After the next speaker was selected, a lot of Ghanaians applauded him for his comportment.

Explaining why he was captured in such a calm composure, Mr Kennedy Agyapong told Oman FM in an interview: “I didn’t want to destroy Akufo-Addo’s swearing-in that is why I sat down quietly and observed the NDC members.

“We [NPP] could have fought,” but it would have dragged and affected the swearing-in of MPs-Elect and eventually the President and his Vice-President’s swearing-in, that is why we from the NPP side decided to be quiet to let the NDC members have their way.”
