The Debate of having the Ministry of Tourism , Arts and
Culture launch an Agya Koo Television,  got many Ghanaians talking on
various platforms.

However, on Sunday 4th February, 2018, The Ministry Of
Tourism , Arts and Culture  in Partnership with 2C Television finally
unveiled the much awaited AgyaKoo Television at the Accra Mall.

The heated media, pounced on the Minister Of Tourism, Arts
and Culture, Honourable
Catherine
Afeku, after the unveiling event to ask questions and find out why Kofi Adu popular
in the movie scene as Agya Koo was selected for the project.

Speaking in an interview
with SVTV Africa’s Mustapha, Hon. Catherine Afeku refuted claims that selecting
Agya Koo to be on the 2C Television has a political influence.

“Whatever they say
about AgyaKoo Tv is of their own opinion. There was a conducted research into
the selection of Creative persons, who will get on to the 2C Television
platform , and as its stands Agya Koo , leads and command a higher following on
social media , when it comes to male actors in Ghana,” she answered when asked
why Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Lil Win, Jackie Appiah and many others are
yet to be on the platform.

When Mustapha suggested that,
John Dumelo should have been the best person to be unveiled first due his huge
social media following, the Minister was quick to say that’s his opinion.

“John Dumelo will be on 2C Television platform when his
time is up and the Ministry will see to that,” she hinted.

Adding up to social media following, we at the Ministry is
looking at putting content of local and talented actors , actresses and
musicians on the the platform for more people in our local and rural areas to
enjoy as well.

“People in my village don’t know John Dumelo but loves
the works of Agya Koo and as it stands the channel as received 5,000
subscribers in six weeks and I think it’s a step in the right direction.

“Our priority is to give life to our entertainers when they
retire , and that is what the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture targets to
achieve. Psalms Adjetefio’s for ‘Taxi Driver’ hit series’s case is an example.

“The Online Streaming Television app on Google PlayStore and
Apple playstore will now have Network providers charge a little amount for our
entertainers,” She concluded.
