Ghanaian media personality, Nana Kwasi Boateng Murphy, otherwise known as Grandmaster Murphy, has condemned the taking of payola.
He justified why payola is bad in a recent interview with Newshuntermag.com’s Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku on Unlimited Chat With K.O.K.
The affable media personality argued that payola has the tendency to affect the listenership or viewership base of a radio or television station.
He explained that some audience will tune off if the presenter or DJ keeps playing some one-way songs after accepting payola.

Grandmaster Murphy added that payola takers won’t even check if the song is eligible to be aired or not.
To him, payola even affects the artistes’ in some way—as they have to look for so much money for payola.
When asked if he has taken payola before, Murphy stated that no.
He, however, revealed he has received monies from some artistes as gifts but not payola.
