Popular Ghanaian highlife musician, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu aka KK Fosu, has reiterated the woes of old musicians in Ghana.

He bemoaned in a recent interview Newshuntermag.com has chanced upon that the majority of Ghanaian musicians will die poor if issues about royalties are not fixed.

KK Fosu urged the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) to get a system that will enable them to track songs that are played all around the country.

“Musicians are suffering especially the oldies. Most of the oldies don’t know about this digital stuff. All they know is going to at register wherever they have been asked to go and wait to receive their money so we need to help them. I, for instance, am still young and energetic so if I decide to quit music now, I can still do other jobs but the oldies can’t,” he told Doctar Cann on Happy FM.

The ‘Anadwo Yede’ singer revealed how much he received from GHAMRO not long ago as royalties:

“I received about a 1000cedis recently and that money is royalties for over a year, not six months like they are saying because it’s been way over six months since I last received it,” KK Fosu disclosed.

Over the years, other Ghanaian musicians have expressed the same view over the royalties being collected by GHAMRO.
