The Bono Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has honoured Mr Ransford Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suncity group of companies in Sunyani for his continuous support for the development of football in the region.

The NSA led by Mr Foster Kwame Opoku Boakye, the Regional Director and his entourage on Monday presented a citation of honour to Mr Antwi to recognise his selfless efforts and support in all endeavours to ensure Sunyani, the Bono region and Ghana gets what it takes to make things work positive for development in sports and other sectors of mankind.

The citation reads “Citation In Honour Of Mr & Mrs Antwi, CEO, Suncity FM/Suncity Imperial Lodge

“This citation is presented to you as a token of appreciation from National Sports Authority, Bono Region for your continuous effort and dedication towards the progress and the development of sports in the region”.

“We wish to seize this opportunity to appreciate your contributions which have not gone unnoticed”.

“The Bono Regional Sports Authority appreciates you. We Say Ayekoo.”

Mr Antwi, after receiving the citation expressed gratitude to the NSA for the gesture.

In an interview after the presentation, Mr Boakye explained he could record numerous free financial and other supports Mr Antwi offered the NSA for the past and current years.

According to him, Mr Antwi solely financed the construction of a man-shift football tunnel, reserve bench with shade and other facilities at the Sunyani Coronation Park in 2021, and this philanthropic nature in the society is worth rewarding and encouraging to inspire others.

Mr Boakye pleaded with other well-to-do people in the region and the general public for support to construct a new dressing room and other needed facilities to upgrade the standard of the pitch before next season.

Such support includes materials, capital and labour for pitch maintenance projects at the Sunyani Coronation Park, he added.

In the said year, Mr Antwi financed the aforementioned projects at over 30,000.00 before the approval of the Sunyani Coronation Park by the Club Licensing Board of the Ghana Football Association as a befitting ground for the Division One clubs in Sunyani to play their home matches.

The move was towards the progress of the National Division One Leagues in the Bono region to enhance quality footballing activities in the country, as well as improving small-scale trading businesses because sporting activities in Sunyani were avenues that boosts petty trading in the regional capital.

In July 2021, Mr Antwi, also the former CEO of Brong Ahafo United (B. A United) presented an amount of GH₵52, 191 to ‘City’ rivals, Bofoakwa Tano FC when “The Hunters” were close to clinching the qualification spot from the Division One Zone One league with two matches to end that season.

The amount presented at the team’s training grounds represented full payment of a fundraising drive dubbed “Operation Bofobeba” Mr Antwi initiated that season.

The operation was to financially support the Sunyani-based Division One club and motivate them to bring premier league football to the Bono Regional capital, a stage that has eluded football fans in Sunyani for years.
