Ghanaian legislator, Sam George, has reacted to the government’s move to have a formal engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
President Akufo-Addo has authorized the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to commence the formal engagement.
This was after he had a phone conversation with the Managing Director of IMF, Miss Kristalina Georgieva.
“The engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to quicken Ghana’s build back in the face of challenges induced by the Covid-19 and, recently, the Russia-Ukraine crises,” Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said in a statement.
Reacting to this in a post seen by Newshuntermag.com, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George stated that common sense is now prevailing.
He wrote on Twitter: “We are officially going back to the IMF for a program. Finally common sense is prevailing. 🦁🇬🇭.”
