A woman in Rwanda, Liliane Mugabekazi is in trouble after she wore a sheer dress to a musical concert.

She was arrested by Rwanda authorities after she attended a musical concert organized by French singer, Tayc.

Her dressing has been tagged as ‘shameful clothing’.

Liliane, 24, could be jailed for 2 years if she is found guilty of ‘public indecency’.

“She attended the concert while wearing clothes that reveal her private parts…clothes that we call shameful…It is on these serious grounds that we ask the court to remand Mugabekazi for 30 days,” the prosecutors said in a statement.

A lot of reactions have come from social media users across Africa following her arrest. Some of them are calling for her release.

Meanwhile, some Rwandan authorities think it is time for the high rate of immorality and indecency to be curbed—and penalizing Liliane will serve as a deterrent.

Former Justice Minister, Johnston Busingye wrote on Twitter: “The current issue of our young men & women who drink & drug themselves unconscious, appear in public literally naked is objectionable. I support the efforts of leaders, RNP, parents, youth, media etc to address it.”
