Bono Regional Minister Commends Suncity Group Of Companies For Breast Care Initiative To Save Lives

Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister has commended the Suncity group of companies in Sunyani for the initiative to ensure quality health and well-being of the people in the city and the region.

According to the Minister, the contribution of some individuals such as Mr Ransford Antwi and the Suncity group of companies in all aspects of development is worth rewarding.

Mad. Owusu-Banahene was speaking to the media at Sunyani Victoria Park on Friday during a visit to interact and ascertain the state of a free breast cancer screening and awareness exercise organized by the Suncity group of companies in collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The Minister was again grateful to the media, the Ghana Health Service, the KATH breast care team and individuals for the serious breast cancer education and information and encouraged women to quickly report cases of breast cancer to the hospital even after October.

In all, 306 people including some men were screened for breast cancer, pulses and BP.

Mrs Constance Antwi Bosiako, a Registered General Nurse at the breast care centre at the KATH, who led a team of breast care professionals to undertake the screening said 42 suspected cases were recorded at the end of the exercise.

“The patients have been referred to go for scan and give us feedback for further and necessary action”, she said.

Mrs Antwi Bosiako said, “cancer itself is painless, that’s why people don’t know and pay attention to it early but a very dangerous disease.”

She pleaded with the government to make health care a top priority and provide the needed infrastructure and logistics for cancer-related cases, saying, cases of breast cancer recorded at the KATH are very serious, but lack the logistics to improve work on them.
