Germany still has the chance to progress to the stage of the World Cup 2022 as they drew 1-1 with Spain.

The first half of the Group E fixture ended goallessly.

A goal from Antonio Rüdiger was ruled out for offside.

Alvaro Morata broke the deadlock as he scored for Spain in the 62nd minute.

It appeared the odds were against the Germans who were struggling to get back into the game.

Finally, Niclas Füllkrug struck in the 83rd minute of the second half to rescue a 1-1 draw for Germany.

Both teams squandered some scoring opportunities in the game.

Looking at the standings in Group E of the World Cup 2022, Germany can qualify if they beat Costa Rica and Japan lose to Spain.

Spain is on top of the group with four points; Japan is second with three points, followed by Costa Rica with three points and Germany with one point.

Earlier, Costa Rica beat Japan by a lone goal.
