Amid Canadian Wildfires, Shawn Mendes Releases New Song ‘What The Hell Are We Dying For?’

Canadian singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes, has released a new song ‘What The Hell Are We Dying For?’.

The song with a powerful message behind its lyrics was dropped amid the wildfires in Canada.

He announced his new song hours before it was finally released.

“Smoke in the air/ the city’s burning down/ I want to speak/ but I don’t make a sound,” Mendes croons in the new song. “Locked in my mind, you’re all I think about./ I want to save us, but I don’t know how.”

Shawn Mendes explained the inspiration behind the song in a tweet Newshuntermag.com has seen.

Canada has been affected by an ongoing record-setting series of wildfires starting from March 2023 and increasing around June. It has affected all Canadian provinces and territories except Nunavut. The 2023 wildfire season is the worst in Canada’s modern history.
