Suncity Medical Outreach Team To Start The Second Phase Of ‘Operation Restore Your Sight’ On June 12

The Second phase of Operation Restore Your Sight, a free eye screening and surgical exercise organized by the Suncity Medical Outreach Team is scheduled to take place from 12th to 14th June 2023 at Kwatire Hospital.

The second phase seeks to provide free surgeries to beneficiaries who were diagnosed with cataract, pterygium and prosthesis during the first phase of the exercise.

Out of the total number of participants who benefited from the pre-surgical free eye screening exercise which was the first phase, about hundred and three (103) people were diagnosed with cataract whilst 10 people and some four others were diagnosed with pterygium and prosthesis respectively.

Speaking on Suncity Radio, the Dean of School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Development Studies (UDS) Tamale, Professor Stephen Tabiri, who is Head of the Suncity Medical Outreach Team, disclosed that ophthalmologists from “Friends Eye Center” a non-governmental organization led by Dr. Seth Wanye will provide free surgeries to all individuals who were booked for surgeries during the first phase of the exercise.

He said the exercise forms part of the team’s effort in giving back to society and also ensuring sustainable healthcare delivery in the Bono Region.
