As the “Occupy Jubilee House” (#OccupyJulorBiHouse) demonstration continues to gain momentum, several Ghanaians have descended on local celebrities for their indifference towards the demonstration and the plight of the protesters.

The protest, begun by a group known as Democracy Hub, has garnered widespread attention, trending on social media with the hashtag #OccupyJulorBiHouse.

Among some of their grievances are what they have described as economic mismanagement and “theft that has engulfed our government from the highest levels” which continues to create suffering for the Ghanaian people.

Some of the demonstrators were picked up and driven away in a bus by police on the morning of Thursday, September 21.

With the protest gaining more traction, many have taken to social media to register their disappointment with the lack of vocal and physical support from Ghanaian celebrities many of whom despite issues arising including the police arrests, have remained silent.

As a result of this, calls have intensified for Ghanaian youth to boycott all activities scheduled by artists this December, including Stonebwoy’s Bhim concert and Shatta Wale’s Freedom Wave Festival.
