The people of Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region were dealt a shocking blow following the tragic loss of two young girls who were carried away by the Mankran River.
Reports from some locals revealed that the girls, Elizabeth, 12, and Diana, 16 met this unfortunate fate when they were attempting to cross a wooden bridge on the river on their way home from school on Monday, September 4, 2023.
The older girl had jumped into the river in an attempt to rescue her younger sister from being carried away after first falling into it. Elizabeth was discovered an hour after the incident but succumbed to death after she was taken to a hospital nearby.
Residents are still trying to locate her elder sister, Diana.
