Some enraged fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko resorted to vandalizing the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex after a match against Nations FC ended in a 2-2 draw.

The visiting team’s supporters got aggravated when a penalty was awarded to the home side with only a few minutes to the final whistle.

Kotoko was looking to emerge victorious in the game after Michael Kyei secured a 2-1 lead for them. However, Referee Abdul Latif Qadir’s penalty dashed all hopes and was met with frustration and much controversy.

The angered fans responded by throwing bottles, ripping off some of the stadium’s seats, and hurling them on the pitch.

Officials had to halt the game for several minutes to restore order.

Despite the disruption, Nations FC had a turnaround by successfully converting the near loss into a 2-2 draw.

Reports indicate that similar incidents of vandalism occurred over the weekend in Dormaa, Tamale, and Dawu.
