An Accra Circuit Court will later this morning rule on the submission
of no case filed by lawyers of senior medical officer at the Efia
Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Sulley Ali-Gabass.
The medical officer is facing two counts of defiling a child under 16
years and having unnatural carnal knowledge, charges he has pleaded
not guilty to.
He was arrested in October last year after Joy News investigations
revealed his alleged sexual activities with the senior high school
boy.
The state prosecution has called five witnesses, including Joy FM's
Manasseh Azure Awuni who broke the story.
But lawyers for the accused say Dr Ali-Gabass has no case to
answer. The case will be struck out if the court rules in their
favour. They will, however, be expected to open a defence if the court
rejects the submission.
