The National secretary for the Film and Producers
Association of Ghana (FIPAG), James Aboagye, has debunked the statement made by
Alex Adu Kofi, popularly known as Agya Koo that he revived the Ghanaian movie
industry.
Mr. James Aboagye disclosed in an interview with Mr. Lattus
on J.life Fm Chat Show that Agya Koo has played his quota in the industry but
his claims that he revived the industry is false.

He disclosed that, in the late 90’s and 2000, the industry
suffered so many challenges and at that time the Nigerian movies and Ghanaian
English Film makers were in the system. Danfo BA and Socrate sarfo was the only
people who engaged in the Twi movies.
According to him, he and the CEO of Miracle films, Samuel
Nyamekye, came up with an idea of blending the concert party artists with the
traditional Film makers to do an experiment.
“The first experiment was a movie with the title
“SIKA”, which features concert party artists like Santo, Judas and
Abaawa Mary, with the traditional Film makers like King Brenya, Kwame OWUSU
Ansah etc. It was a very successful masterpiece.
“We decided to use our local language for the people of
Ghana to understand the movie perfectly.”
He added: “Agya Koo was featured in the second movie titled ‘KUMASE
YONKO’ with Nana Ama Mcbrown, Portia Asare, etc. So the industry was revived
before Agya KOO came.”
