Road Safety Commission To Intensify Campaigns Ahead Of Chrismas Festivities In The Brong Ahafo Region

The Brong Ahafo Regional office of the National Road Safety
Commission, as part of efforts to reduce road accidents ahead of the
Christmas Festivals has announced the schedule for the 'Road Safety
Week' in Sunyani.
Mr. Agyabeng Mensah Abrampa, Regional Manager of the Commission
disclosed that, the Road Safety Week has been slated from the 17th of
November to 23rd November 2014, and will be under the Theme:
"Empowering Passengers and Pedestrians to demand road safety."
Mr. Mensah Abrampa added that, there will be a public transport day
whereby well-endowed people in the society will leave their
comfortable vehicles behind and join taxis and other public vehicles.
He cited that, They will deepen relations with the various unions and
also intensify road safety campaigns ahead of the Christmas
festivities. He add that, the Commission has started Kids clubs in the
region to educate the young ones on road safety issues.
Mr. Agyabeng Mensah Abrampa called on all union groups to embark on
road safety education for their drivers at least every one month.
Police Superintendent Daniel Oppong Asirifi, Brong Ahafo Rregional
Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of
the Ghana Police Service said, his outfit has received speed guns
from the Road Safety Commission and will on the roads to check
over-speeding.
He said road safety issues is a shared responsibility and therefore
called on the media to partner with the police service.
