Radio and television personality Akumaa Mama Zimbi aka Joyce Akumaa Dongotey-Padi has told her headgear critics to keep their cool as that is part of her branding.

She revealed this in an interview with Delay on the Delay Show on viasat1.

“You see, when you enter into the showbiz industry, you need to be noticed and for me, I don’t think there is a need for you to do what the others are doing, you need to be different and that has been me. I came with my headgear style,” she said.

According to her, depending on where she is going and the people she is meeting, the style, pattern and size of her headgear varies.

Headgear, headwear or headdress is the name given to any element of clothing which is worn on one’s head.

Akumaa Mama Zimbi is a women’s rights leader, television and radio talk show host, actress, philanthropist, sex and relationship expert and marriage counselor.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of Mama Zimbi Foundation (MZF), a non-governmental organization which seeks to empower and support widows through its Widows Alliance Network (WANE) project.

She is also a blogger on love, relationship, marriage and sex education.

In 1999, she received the ACRAG Talent Award for Discovery, for her acting role in Cantata which is shown on GTV. She was also awarded the most coveted ACRAG Best Female Radio Personality Award in 2008.
