Sunyani Youth Development Association Preaches Against Electoral Violence (+Photos)

The Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) has organized a street campaign, dubbed “Ghana is peace and must remain peaceful” to sensitize the general public, particularly the youth against electoral violence during and after the December 7 general elections.

It was organized in collaboration with partners such as the National Youth Authority (NYA), Initiative Black and White Ghana and Germany (IBWG&G) and Sunyani for Development, an association of people of Sunyani living in Abroad.


The campaign, attended by Matthew Cares Foundation International, a Liberia and Ghana based NGO seeking the welfare of vulnerable children and official of NYA commenced with a walk through the Principal Streets of Sunyani on Wednesday.


It was also attended by the Professional Scout Council, Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) under Sinapi Aba, Sunyani Area Two Youth Association and other youth groups with a call on stakeholders, particularly those in the political sphere to intensify works towards keeping the nation’s peace and stable.


Their placards readings included “Violence in Africa not Again, Different Parties One Ghana, Ballots Not Bullets, Peace is in our Hands, Women always Peace Makers”.


The campaign was to preach a Democratic, free, fair, credible and peaceful elections and aftermath to prevent violence and ensure a stable nation for sustainable development.

As part of the campaign, the Association would embark on community outreach program to sensitize the general public on the need to protect the nation’s peace and Democracy.
