Senegal attained their first World Cup 2022 victory by defeating the host nation, Qatar.
The Group A encounter ended with the Senegalese beating Qatar by 3 goals to 1.
Goals from Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng were enough for the African side to take the three points.
Qatar got its consolation goal through Ghanaian-born footballer, Mohammed Muntari in the 78th minute.
This was after Boulaye Dia and Famara Diedhiou had netted two goals for Senegal in the 41st and 48th minutes.
Bamba Dieng in the 84th minute scored Senegal’s third goal. This makes them the first African team to win in the World Cup 2022 so far.
Senegal will meet Ecuador on Tuesday, while Qatar also faces the Netherlands.
The next match between Netherlands and Ecuador will be played later today, November 25, 2022.
